By air

The best way to reach the villa is by air, flying into one of the airports that are a short drive away.

Flying saves you travel time as the flight times are between 1.5 to 2 hours and this means more time at the villa!

All the journeys from the various airports are on auto routes allowing you an easy drive to the villa - no long, slow, winding roads to negotiate after a flight!

Montpellier Airport is 45 minutes away along the A9 auto route and is a very easy drive. BA and Ryanair both fly there as well as Air France via Paris.
Perpignan Airport is about an hour away and Ryanair and Flybe fly there. The airport is an easy one hour drive along the A9 from Perpignan towards Bezier.
Carcasonne Airport is about an hour away and Ryanair fly there. The airport is an easy one hour drive along the A61/A9 from Carcasonne towards Bezier.
Girona Airport in Spain is served by Ryanair and is approximately 1.5 hours away along the A9 auto route. Crossing the border between France/Spain is easy although the traffic does slow down when it has to pass through customs, although most vehicles simply carry on without having to stop.
Toulouse Airport is served by BA, Easyjet, Flybe and BMIbaby and is about 2 hours 15 minutes away along A61/A9 towards Bezier.
Nimes Airport is served by Ryanair and is approximately 2 hours 15 minutes away along the A9 towards Bezier.
Barcelona Airport is served by BA, Easyjet and Iberia and is between 2.5 and 3 hours away along the A9 auto route.
Bezier-Vias airport - for completeness, we should mention that Bezier-Vias airport is, in fact, the closest airport to the villa. It is less than 10 minutes away but flights to this airport have to come via Paris (and often involve a change of plane and a wait) so you may find your travel time is longer than if you fly into one of the other airports and drive to the villa.
Car hire

Although you can manage without a car, we suggest you hire one to make the most of the opportunities available.

We have used Holiday Autos (www.holidayautos.co.uk) for car hire and they have always provided a competitive quote and a good service with their local agents (Europcar in France generally).

It is advisable to book in advance from the UK, especially in the summer months.

Taxis are generally expensive and will cost around 150 Euros from Montpellier Airport to the villa - so one to avoid!

The other, more tortuous option, is to take the Airport bus from Montpellier Airport to Montpellier train station and to take a train to Bezier station, from where you can get a taxi (only if you really do not want to hire a car).

By train

Another option is to travel by train from the UK via Paris or Lille as trains run direct to Bezier, some being the TGV.

Car hire is available from Bezier station (Avis and Europcar) and a taxi will cost approximately 25-30 Euros from the railway station to the villa.

You can also take the car on the train and travel on French motorail (www.raileurope.co.uk) but this is not the same value for money it used to be.

By car

You may wish to drive from the UK to the Mediterranean coast but it is a long way - it will take you between 10 and 11 hours of driving (subject to traffic jams) and the main routes from Calais are either via Paris and Clermont-Ferrand or via Lyon.

There is good news, however, as the travel time via Clermont-Ferrand should be dramatically reduced by the recently opened and fantastic "Foster" designed bridge (the bridge is said to be the highest bridge in the world) crossing the gorge over Millau and helping to by-pass the bottlenecks into and out of Millau.

It should dramatically reduce the journey time.

Directions to the villa after you leave the A9 at Bezier will be sent to you on after receipt of your booking.

As mentioned details of all the attractions mentioned here are available in a folder at the villa.
